Our students organized a rally and campaign to stand against bullying. The students were successful in bringing awareness to our school and our community. They also organized a contest to assist students in better understanding how to prevent bullying! November/December We Scare Hunger Panthers Prevent Hunger Food Drive The student council partnered with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Chicago Bulls in collecting food and funds for the community. We are very excited about our results! Meals Provided: 1,990 Money Raised: $110 January Dreams of Peace Week A week full of events in support of our goals to create peace! We will rally our students up to create change within the community. We will use our talents to create poems, songs, and dances for OPEN MIC night. We will take action by speaking with other students, administration, teachers, and parents to discuss ways to create peace together. We will also host the PEACE & UNITY basketball game, staff vs. students! February WE Are Love Random Acts of Kindness Week During this month we had our XO Dance and Love-A-Gram Station. The Love-A-Gram station was organized in order to spread kindness during Valentine's Day week. We allowed students/teachers to visit our station in order to send notes and/or gifts to other students/teachers. We also had RAK week, in which we took part in random acts of kindness. We distributed a schedule for the week to each student and teacher, in order to increase participation. Last but not least, we welcomed Spencer West (Motivational Speaker) and Jesse Mintz (We Strategic Communications Coordinator) to our school. This was an amazing opportunity that our students will never forget. March WE Create Change We will collect coins in part of our efforts to raise funds to support those in Tanzania. Our goal is raise $500, which will be donated to our WE Village. The coin drive will begin in March and end in May. April WE Volunteer Now Support Homelessness We will begin by collecting non-perishable food items and hygiene products. During the last week of the drive we will have our "Helping Hearts" care package party. During this party we will discuss homeless ness and package meal bags and hygiene kits. All packaged items will be donated to a local shelter and also distributed in the Englewood community. |
